When we met in 2019, we quickly realised that what connected us went farbeyond a shared passion for wine. We shared the same curiosity, the same high standards and the same belief that great wine is about more than what’s in the bottle. It’s about craftsmanship, people, and the moments shared around the table.

Growing up around wine means inevitably becoming part of its culture. It shapes the landscape, local traditions and the way people come together. From an early age, Matthias understood that wine was about much more than what was in the glass. It accompanied celebrations, sparked conversations and brought different people around the same table.

Over time, he realised that wine fascinated him on another level. When tasting, he found himself noticing nuances and details that others might overlook. What began as a natural curiosity gradually developed into a desire to turn his passion into a profession.

Originally trained in structural engineering, Matthias went on to deepen his knowledge at the Austrian Wine Academy before making the leap into the wine industry. It proved to be the right move. For twelve years, he was responsible for curating the wine selection at Vienna’s renowned wine shop Pub Klemo.

Years of tasting and selecting wines, combined with an ongoing dialogue with winemakers, guests and customers, have shaped Matthias’ expertise and his instinct for discovering exceptional bottles. Just as importantly, they have given him a deep understanding of people and their individual tastes.

Today, he brings both to CrispWine: extensive wine knowledge and an intuitive ability to connect people with wines they will genuinely enjoy.

And his relationship with wine extends beyond the business. For years, Matthias has also been making wines of his own.

Wine has been part of Johnny’s life for more than 25 years. With roots in Lebanon, where wine has long been deeply woven into the culture, his passion developed early and has only grown stronger over time.

Even throughout his career in the pharmaceutical industry, his curiosity for wine never left him. Over the years, Johnny gained hands-on experience in winemaking, developing a deeper understanding of just how many factors shape a vintage and how much knowledge, patience and dedication ultimately go into every bottle.

Alongside this, he built a private collection focused on the classic wine regions of France and producers whose work reflects tradition, terroir and authenticity.

Today, these experiences shape his perspective at CrispWine. For Johnny, discovering an exceptional wine is as much about the story it tells as it is about the people behind it: where they come from, what drives them and the philosophy that shapes their craft.

Wine, to Johnny, has always been about more than what ends up in the glass. It represents craftsmanship, origin and the special moments that become even better when shared with others.
